News Hack Arizona 2017 is Feb. 18-19, 2017 on the University of Arizona campus. This year we are providing affordable, hands-on training on how to use Raspberry Pi computers and sensors to record data and tell compelling stories. Each news organization will go home with a sensor kit to put the skills they learn at News Hack Arizona to use in their newsroom.  The weekend will also feature 360 video demos and drone reporting tips. News Hack Arizona is a collaboration between the Arizona Daily Star and University of Arizona School of Journalism.

Many professional journalists and students do not have the money to attend national training sessions. Our group of professional and academic journalists will provide a low-cost hackathon focusing on sensor journalism to bring national-level training to Arizona Journalists.

One of the ways we will keep costs low is by providing a network of homes for journalists to stay in while attending News Hack Arizona. Contact us if you would like help finding a host for the weekend.

News Hack Arizona will take place on Feb. 18-19 at the University of Arizona Science and Engineering Library. Check out the full event schedule.

Professional journalists from around the country will be leading a day long workshop on sensor journalism
